Today natural gas is the energy source with the greatest growth opportunities - both in Germany and in Europe. As there are only a few large gas producers, gas storage facilities in the heart of Europe guarantee security of supply and make an important contribution to reducing dependences. Reliable gas supply without high-performance storages and modern storage services is nowadays inconceivable.

Reliability at the heart of European gas transit
BEB is a 50/50 joint venture of Shell and Esso. With 50 employees in our Hannover headquarters we ensure transparent and discrimination-free storage access at the centre of European gas transit.
Our storage customers are national and international gas companies, gas producers, gas traders, utilities and industrial customers. They can all rely on our competence and experience.

Tailor-made concepts are developed by our teams of specialists. Dialogue with our customers is important for us, for only in this way can we stimulate the market. When we have to develop solutions together with our customers, we commit ourselves to using all possibilities offered by the liberalisation of the gas market in Europe.
Crude oil and sulphur
Besides the gas storage business, BEB markets crude oil from its own production in North- and South Germany. The reservoirs are located in the Emsland, the Lüneburger Heide, the Upper Rhine Valley and the South German Prealps. BEB has commissioned ExxonMobil Production Deutschland GmbH with the production of crude oil.
During the processing of natural gas from Northern Germany in the processing plants of Großenkneten and NEAG/Voigtei large quantities of liquid sulphur are produced. BEB markets this valuable raw material for the manufacture of artificial fertilizer and the plastics and chemical industry in Germany, Europe and all over the world.
